Allihies is a charming village on the very south west tip of Ireland, on the end of the Beara peninsula in County Cork. Three pubs, a grocery and a Post Office makes up the village. There are numerous beutiful places to visit. Natural stone arches, mountain walks and a cable car visit to Dursey island are among the many things that a visitor can do.
"We look forward to welcoming you and catering to your accommodation needs"
In the summer season it is easy to laze about on the beach or try your luck at fishing off the rocks. One of the attractions to the village is the old copper mine buildings. Cornish copper mines were set up in Allihies a few hundred years ago and the remains of the buildings can be seen. Exactly the same as the old mine buildings one can see in cornwall, England. There is soon to be opened in the village a copper mine museum. www.acmm.ie this museum will be of interest to many, young and old to show how the mines worked and the conditions a few hundred years ago
